The choice to sell your home is an important and complicated one. More often than not, people want to sell their home but remain on the fence for one reason or another, and so nothing ever comes of it. This, unfortunately, will hold you back, hold your family back, and could make life harder in the future. Like I said, coming to the decision to sell your home is hard, but here are four signs that you should.
You’re Bursting At The Seams
When people buy their first home, they tend to buy what suits their circumstances at that moment. If you bought your home as a newlywed, for example, the property is likely to be fairly small, as only you and your partner would have had to live in it. This means that it probably doesn’t fit you, your partner, a few children, and a dog comfortably. If this is the problem for you, then it’s probably time to think about upgrading your home and getting somewhere a little larger. Just make sure that the new property that you choose ticks all the boxes.
Your Neighbors Made Bank
It’s always a sensible idea to find out the estimated worth of your home, and see if it’s a price that you’d be comfortable selling for. You can do this by finding a realtor online, from a website like Hungry Agents, and ask them to do an evaluation of your home; Most realtors will gladly do this for free. Alternatively, you could see if any of your neighbours are selling up or contact someone that used to live on the same block as you. As long as the bedroom count is the same, the value should be about the same too. Both of these options will supply you a rough estimate of how much your property is worth, and will allow you to decide if the price is right.
You Have A House Picked Out
Everyone has a flick through real estate listing or checks out some dream houses online every now and then, but if you’ve fallen in love with a house that you realistically could live in, then this is a huge sign that you might want to sell up. Timing is everything when it comes to buying and selling property, so if you can’t stop thinking of the new house being built across town or the cottage by the sea that you’ve looked up fifteen times online, then you shouldn’t hesitate. Of course, you should speak to your partner and your family, rather than making any massive decisions alone, but if you seriously want that house, then you need to start the conversation sooner rather than later, or you could miss the opportunity.
Selling your home is a big deal, so it definitely isn’t a decision that should be taken lightly. Despite this, you also shouldn’t sit around thinking for months and let the opportunity pass you by. If you’ve noticed any of the signs mentioned above, then it might be time for you to stop thinking and start taking some action.
