All businesses across the world are subject to regulations that can pigeonhole the business, and our creativity. We are put into little boxes, and it can be hard to break out of them. One of these boxes is the need for customers - that can mean that when we want to set up a physical business, we need to aim for the big city and a outlet in front of thousands if we want any success. A plot in the city? It's going to cost you a pretty penny. What's more, it's going to be loud and proud. It's going to be busy and stressful. There are a lot of benefits to having a business in the big city, but it comes at a bit of a cost - namely you'll always be on your feet, because cities? They never sleep.

For some, this is a challenge worth taking, for others - it is off-putting. That's not surprising at all, not in the slightest, we're all different, so we are going to be affected by different things! However, for those considering getting into business, it might be a bit of a stalling prospect - having to open up in the city.

You don't need to worry though, despite the influence of the big city, business opportunities can be found all over the place. If you're not suited to the big city, you can find business in more comfortable surroundings - but you might have to make a few small changes to compensate for the footfall that the big city surroundings bring. Either that or you'll need a business especially suited for a suburban, or even rural, area. Either way, you're going to need to make big changes, and have a pretty special idea to thrive away from the large urban sprawls.

Working with animals might be a solid idea if you actually like working with them, and want to succeed away from the city. Rural areas are good for farms, animal nurseries, vet surgeries and other animal-based businesses. The majority of these businesses, for obvious reasons, cannot thrive within the confines of the city. However, they are perfectly suited for the wide-open fields of the countryside. As such, veterinarian jobs are plentiful. Animal-based businesses will require you to have a special skillset, but you'll also need to work and network with specific companies and suppliers, like animal feed companies and other animal supplies. If you're an animal lover and you want to make it an opportunity, look for a business based around them!

There are plenty of other things you might do to avoid the hustle and bustle of the big city. Why not work from home using your skills to run a business based out of your home? Why not try to identify areas of clear need in your local area? This might seem tricky, but you’re going to need to be tricky, creative and driven in order to thrive outside of the city. If you can’t do that, it might not be for you - at all. But if you can, you can be successful.
