When it comes to being a consumer, as well as a business owner, you can start to notice a lot of things about the websites you used to spend your time buying at. Maybe there’s a lack of interesting and relevant options present on the homepage, maybe there’s little security, maybe the navigation is completely off, or maybe you can just instantly spot flaws and realize why customer traffic here isn’t very high.

All in all, you’ve become a dab hand at spotting where a website goes wrong. And you notice these things now because you have your own website to run, and you recognize the features and flaws because they’re inherent in your own code. So with that in mind, let’s take a look at a couple of ideas that more business websites need to keep a hold of.

Make sure you keep the customer experience in mind. (Image)

Proper Communication

There’s no end to the amount of brand websites out there that think flashy will do the trick for bringing in customers! But the truth is, if your website doesn’t have a clear and concise message to it, or there’s no ‘about us’ page to explain what it is you do and why that’s relevant, you won’t have much of a following to advertise to!

Sure, it might be hard to fit your entire brand message and all the product descriptions and images you want onto your small hosting platform, but there’s where a dedicated server comes in. So be sure to invest a little more money into your online presence, as you need to make sure you’re not sacrificing quality for quantity, considering all the products you need to show.

A ‘Contact Us’ Section

If your website doesn’t have your contact information on it, most likely at the bottom of the page where the rest of your legal links go, there’s a good chance no one who aims to buy one of your products will trust you. Sure, you’ve got an FAQ for people to check through when they have an issue, but if their issues isn’t there, they’re going to need to be able to contact you directly.

And as a small business owner, you need to be able to answer questions, no matter where they come from. It’s how you build up a good reputation, and garner some good reviews across the internet - you’re polite and helpful, and you’re willing to go the extra mile for any customer in need. Isn’t that the kind of reputation you want among your business circle?

Update Your Website

If you’ve got a business to run, make sure you’re using its website to maximum capacity, as this is the only way you’re going to be able to draw more and more people in. Most marketing comes through the online world these days, and when you’ve got an unreliable website, you’re going to have an unreliable market pull! So change it for better business and longevity for the future ahead of you.
