Tim Scott is an American politician who currently serves as a United States Senator from South Carolina. He was born on September 19, 1965, in North Charleston, South Carolina. Scott is a member of the Republican Party and has been serving in the Senate since 2013, after being appointed by the Governor of South Carolina to fill a vacancy.
Prior to his appointment to the Senate, Scott served as a member of the United States House of Representatives, representing South Carolina's 1st congressional district from 2011 to 2013. He was the first African American to be elected to Congress from South Carolina since Reconstruction.
In addition to his political career, Scott has been involved in various business ventures and community organizations. He is a strong advocate for conservative policies and has been a vocal supporter of tax reform, deregulation, and limited government.
Scott has also been an advocate for criminal justice reform and has worked to address issues of poverty and inequality in America. He is a devout Christian and has spoken publicly about the role of faith in his life and political beliefs.
