If there’s one thing that many people from around the world have learned well during COVID-19 lockdowns, it’s that it can be pretty boring to be stuck at home without much to do.

From time to time, and for a wide array of different potential reasons, we all find ourselves stuck in on our weekends. But maybe you’re in that situation and nonetheless want to avoid the usual temptations to let the time slip by absentmindedly until Monday morning rears its head again.

Here are just a few tips that you can use in order to have a better experience with your weekends when stuck at home.

Get your circadian rhythm right, so that you are up early with plenty of energy

According to sleep and circadian rhythm researchers such as Matthew Walker and Satchin Panda, it’s an unfortunate fact of modern life that the majority of people have deeply disrupted circadian rhythms, and frequently get to sleep at irregular times, as a result.

One of the most common ways this manifests itself is by people going through the working week in a state of exhaustion, and then sleeping in late on the weekends in order to try and compensate.

Usually, this means that there is less time available on the weekend than there could be to spend on personal pastimes, but it also means that you’re likely to find yourself feeling quite exhausted on your weekends as a rule, too.

Getting your circadian rhythm right – by maintaining a consistent sleep-wake schedule, and being careful with how you time your meals and light exposure – might help you to get up early in the weekend with plenty of energy, instead of sacrificing each weekend to trying to recover from your dismal sleep during the week.

Modify your garden to make it a magical place to spend time

If you have a garden, you should absolutely cherish it and should arrange it so that is the kind of space you want to spend as much time as possible.

Often, though, gardens are pretty neglected and end up being rarely used unless there’s a barbecue happening, with friends being invited over.

Rediscover the magic of your garden by modifying and decorating it so that it’s the kind of place you really want to spend some time. You can get LED street light fixtures here, for example, that can help you to experience your own awesome garden parties or moments of quiet contemplation each morning or evening.

Explore some personal hobbies that you’ve always wanted to try out

There’s a virtually unlimited number of potential personal hobbies out there for you to explore, and there’s a good chance that you’ve been wanting to try some of them out for a while but have always felt that you didn’t have the time or energy to do so. Maybe you’ve considered taking up painting or getting a BBQ from a company like Beds BBQ and upping your cooking game.

Simply deciding to dedicate some time to a particular hobby, and proactively getting started with it, can open up whole new exciting worlds of opportunity, with regards to how you might spend your weekends.
It’s a lot more exciting and interesting to spend your time playing around with something you are genuinely passionate about, than just spacing out on the sofa.
