Keeping Your Zen when it’s All Going Wrong

by Jerry Mooney

Running your own business comes with some massive highs. There will be days when you break records and hit milestones. Where everything goes better than expected and when you feel as though you could take on the world. On these days, you’ll know that starting your own business was the right decision. When you feel confident that it will be successful and last the test of time.

But there will undoubtedly also be terrible lows. Days where it seems as though it’s all going wrong. Where your computers are down, or your website is causing trouble. When your staff are creating issues, or your customers are filled with complaints. Sometimes, these bad days will stretch on for longer. Your business isn’t growing. You don’t know what is going wrong, and you don’t know how to make things better. You might be having doubts about your business and considering throwing it all in. When you feel like this, your stress levels can start to rise. You might lose your cool and struggle to see any positives in your situation.

When you are in the middle of all of this, it becomes so hard to spot solutions to your problems. The key to moving forward and finding ways to make things better is keeping your zen, staying calm and in control and boosting your own confidence.

Take a Break

Sometimes the best way to see where you can make changes is to take a step back. When your problems are all that you can think about, and they surround you, it’s impossible to look upon them with any clarity. Take yourself out of the situation for a while. Go away for a few days if you can, or just take an afternoon off to do something that you enjoy. You might find when you return to work you see things differently with a fresh mind.

Ask for Help

Many small business owners make the mistake of thinking that they have to do everything for themselves. But, you don’t. Turn to IT Support Services for help with tech issues. Delegate jobs to your staff or ask for their opinions. If you work alone, consider hiring a freelancer to help, or just reaching out for advice from friends and contacts.

Get Some Exercise

Exercise can be a powerful mind and confidence boost. It can help you to gain a fresh perspective and focus and is often a great way out of a creative block. But, it’s also an excellent way to switch off at the end of a tough day. Go for a run to burn off some negative energy and help yourself relax after work.

Stay Positive

When everything is going wrong, it’s easy to focus on the negatives. But, this is only going to make things worse. Instead, remind yourself of the positives. Write a list of things that you’ve done well and are proud of.

Look After Yourself

When you are dealing with stressful situations, it’s crucial that you take the time to look after yourself. Make sure you are eating well, drinking lots of water and getting plenty of sleep. Try to avoid too much alcohol or caffeine, and get more exercise.
