The Rise of Marijuana: Innovation and Global Growth are Off the Charts

by Brian McKay

After over a century of being vilified, used in racist campaigns and the subject of tremendous propaganda and misinformation, marijuana is finally winning. Health benefits, lack of addictive chemicals and a safe high, have people finally realizing that even their prior favorite chemical, alcohol, is far more detrimental than pot. It is because of this that even global, corporate, alcohol giants are investing in marijuana. Country after country is legalizing and it is only a matter of time before it is legal in most of the United States, as it is now legal in Canada.

As an exploding industry, innovation and expansion are happening rapidly. It was only a year and half ago that the US state of Nevada had to declare a state of emergency as the entire state supply was used up only two weeks into becoming legal.

The industry has been at the forefront of using technology to its benefit to the point you can now get a medical marijuana card online.

Global Expansion

Marijuana has created some very successful entrepreneurs. In the early days of medical marijuana and on into the recreational marijuana period, the climate was dominated by small dispensaries and independent growers, like the sky high dispensary. Often, those that had been proponents and users prior to legalization, were already up to speed and jumped into the marketplace.

As more and more markets have been opening up, even small operations are scaling to meet them. Sure, there are plenty of independent shops still but more and more we see consolidation of grow operations and expansion of dispensaries to other areas. Operations like WeedAF, have dispensaries in multiple states.

The estimated size of the global legal marijuana market is estimated to be $146 billion by the year 2025. With such immense growth ahead, look for more large corporations to enter the market and additional consolidation.

Innovation

Where there is profit to be made, there will be innovation to match. Gone are the days of buying just some random marijuana off the street and rolling it into a joint . Discerning and differing tastes require matching products or ways to use the product and those tastes can even be met by shopping online at innovative companies like mmjexpress.

Most will think innovation has mostly been in the development of new strains of plants. In the past, that has been correct. It is no secret that THC potency has increased and that plants have been bred to create different types of highs. The species of sativa and indica create two different types of highs but both are bred into many different plants. Plant strains are so valuable that they have international trademarks and names known around the world.

A look at the website for BC Buds Medical, shows where much of the current innovation is focused. Ways to consume marijuana have become incredibly diverse. It is now as simple as eating a gummi. Want to make your own special baked goods? Why not use marijuana infused butter. Love dark chocolate? Yes, you can get that too.

Even more traditional methods of consumption, like those found at stoned genie, have seen advancement and an explosion of sales.

Some innovation in consumption methods has even gone fairly high tech, particularly with the creation of vaporizers. The marijuana is already in the vape cartridge, which makes for easy use. The number of varieties of these vape products, including delta 8 THC vape products and CBD vapes, can be seen on many websites like Herald Net.

Recent investments by large companies in the alcohol market have been due to anticipating marijuana infused beverages. There is no doubt that will be happening with so much money rushing in.

Marijuana has become a phenomenon. Such growth in one space hasn’t been seen since the advent of online shopping and it’s only getting started. Marijuana stocks are hot, ordinary people have become millionaires and large corporations are rushing in.

Expect the reach of the market to keep growing and the innovations to keep coming.
