Make Your Business Event Memorable
by Sharon Jones
A successful business event isn’t all about how many people attend – it’s about the lasting impression that you create and the leads that are generated as a result of this. Whether you’re hosting a sales conference or a launch party, the following tricks will help to keep your event memorable.
Host it in an unusual location
Choosing the right location can make a big impact. Generic conference halls are often well set up for business events – they have the seating and equipment necessary – however these venues can also be uninspiring and unmemorable. By choosing a location with a more unique feel, you could help to host an event that stands out.
There are many historic buildings with rooms that can be rented out for conferences, helping to provide a memorable setting. Hotels and bars meanwhile may also be able to rent out an area for business events, providing top quality catering on top of a unique venue. You could even host a business event outdoors – you could rent out a marquee just in case it rains. In all cases, make sure that there is an available power source and necessary equipment (you may need to rent out a portable generator and seating).
Make it educational
You can also make your business event memorable by teaching your attendees something new (and not just something to do with your product). People are likely to remember interesting facts and they will recall the situation where they learned that fact, helping to remember your business event. Consider presenting interesting stats within your trade or offering a history of your trade that helps to teach people something new.
Give away physical reminders
Another certain way to make your event memorable is to give away a free physical reminder. Branded objects are a common example of this – these could be something common such as branded pens, or something unusual such as custom car air fresheners. You could also give away vouchers for your product offering a discount on your services. You could even create a goodie bag of various items to take away from the event – the bag itself can also be branded and it could contain leaflets, voucher, branded items and other keepsakes.
Use exciting new technology
People are also likely to remember any exciting new technology that you use. This can be all the more memorable if you allow your attendees to interact with this technology. You could pass around a tablet and get people to take part in a poll or test your software. Alternatively, you can get people to interact on their mobiles either through social media (you can encourage people to ask questions throughout the event via Twitter) or by encouraging people to download an app. You may even be able to invest in digital signage with moving images and text on.
