Your company will likely already use software to make its processes run smoother and more efficiently. However, there is probably a lot of software that you haven’t even considered trying or might not even know exists. For each type of business, there is probably a type of software that can help you do your work better, easier and quicker. With that in mind, here are some useful software packages for your business.
General
In terms of what general software will be useful to your business, it is unlikely that Microsoft Office won’t be of some use at some point. Whether you need to write a letter, create a flyer or manage your expenses; Microsoft Office has a variety of software that can be helpful. There are free alternatives such as OpenOffice, but they don’t offer the same level of features. Other excellent general software includes communication and planning tools for your business like Slack and Trello. Each company and business that includes more than one person will need a way to communicate and make plans. Slack is brilliant for this. Everything is saved, and you can make different channels for different topics. It can also integrate other apps and tools such as Google Drive and polls. This way you can keep track of your team easily and share documents. It is available on smartphones as well as computers, so you are never too far from your team. Trello is brilliantly useful for managing projects. If your company has something that they need completing, then planning each stage in Trello and assigning different people different tasks is a great place to start. Each person can then feedback with updates and mark off their jobs as completed. Trello is really smooth and easy to use. It is also available on smartphones and computers, so you can always keep track of your projects. There are plenty of other types of general software, but these are a good start.
Specialized
Specialized is a little harder to define. Each company is different. This might be due to the sector that they work in or the type of business that they are. For example, if you don’t work in retail then specialized stock order software will be useless for you. However, if you work in graphic design, then something like Photoshop or the fact that Veris offer a number of 3D spatial solutions could be extremely useful. When finding and exploring specialized software, you need to think about what it is that your company does and how software could help. After that is will generally come down to doing some research either through Google or speaking to other professionals in your business sector. When you find the specialized software that is made specifically for businesses like you, then it can be really useful for your company.
Other
Other software is a bit harder to define, again. It is more the sorts of things that you might take for granted and never really think about. Using cloud storage services such as Google Drive or Onedrive are a great way to share documents with other members of your team or always have access to your work no matter the device or location.
