In today’s eco-conscious world, we should try everything to lower our carbon footprint. This is especially important for businesses. A business will create far more carbon emissions than the average person in their home. We simply have to take action before it gets too late. 

Many of you have heard this plea before, and you’ve tried. But, you feel like there are no feasible ways of reducing your carbon footprint without compromising your business. I say that’s a lie. You most certainly can, and the easiest way is through reducing your energy consumption.

A brilliant idea that makes so much sense it’s almost a crime not to do it. Bringing your own devices means that people can take portable computers or tablets to work. You get rid of any PC’s in the office, which slashes the energy usage. Think about how much power gets used when your computers are powered all day. When you bring your own devices, they can be unplugged for hours on end - and the use up way less energy when plugged in.

Make Your Roof More Energy Efficient

Turn your attention to the top of your office by tending to the roof. Here, you have two different paths to go down. In truth, you can choose either one, or you can combine the two. The second idea is to install solar panels on the roof. This way, you can harness renewable energy to subsidize the energy your business uses. Let There Be (Natural) Light

Most offices come with big windows that let in loads of natural light. However, most offices leave their blinds closed throughout the day. Can you honestly think of a time you walked into work and the lights weren’t on? The lights in an office can be on from 8 to 6/7 every day of the week. Think about how much energy that uses! During the day, you need to open all blinds and let in the light. You can even get blinds that let in as much light as possible but still maintain some privacy. Or, tinted windows do a similar thing. 

These three ideas alone are enough to drastically cut down your energy usage. A reduced carbon footprint is beneficial for more than one reason. Obviously, it has a positive impact on the environment. In turn, this also affects your reputation as a business. Moreover, using less 

energy will save money on your office energy bills. So, you save the planet while saving money and improving your business.
